Our commitment to providing excellent preventive care, support and education services extends well beyond the Cancer Center’s doors. Because of that, we have developed a strong program of outreach services and educational programs designed to link our many resources with the people who need them throughout our Commonwealth.
Mobile Mammo Van
Since 1991, the Mobile Mammography program of the James Graham Brown Cancer Center has been making breast cancer screenings accessible to women at locations throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana. At the heart of the program is the state-of-the-art Mobile Mammography Van, which is on the road year-round. The van and its expert staff provide monthly visits to local health departments; annual trips to county health departments; partnership mobile screenings that focus on specific, underserved populations; and corporate screenings.
Kentucky Cancer Program
The Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP), funded by the Kentucky General Assembly, is administered by the James GrahamBrown Cancer Center and the University of Kentucky’s Lucille Parker Markey Cancer Center. The program’s educational and screening outreach programs for the public, cancer patients and health care professionals span the Commonwealth and the needs of all Kentuckians. It is a comprehensive cancer control network that has become a national model and rivals programs at Houston’s MD Anderson and New York City’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering.
Gilda’s Club Louisville
In 2007, Gilda’s Club Louisville opened its signature red doors with the full support of the James Graham Brown Cancer Center. Gilda’s Club is a free community where children and adults with cancer and their families and friends join with others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care.
