Brown Cancer Center. Making tomorrow BRIGHTER for everyone.

Message from the Director

Dr. Donald Miller, director of Brown Cancer Center I can't imagine a more gratifying way to spend my days than to work closely with so many truly dedicated and talented professional men and women at Brown Cancer Center as we share the struggle to overcome cancer.

These are exciting times indeed. We have made tremendous strides in our knowledge and treatment techniques. The innovative treatments for several types of cancer which were made a reality by the relentless effort of these professional people are certain to have a profound impact the world over. We are determined to eliminate the suffering caused by this most devastating disease and our enthusiasm grows exponentially with each achievement.

For over five years now, I have been allowed to act as leader in this exceptional group of physicians and researchers. The spirit of dedication and cooperation among the men and women at Brown has permeated the entire organization and reached far into the community. The encouraging comments and support we get from the community at large is astounding. Without it, our efforts would be severely hampered.

The enthusiasm of my coworkers is contagious and is portrayed in the relationships we have developed with organizations such as the National Cancer Institute, The Kentucky Cancer Program and others who share in our vision. We have determined to cooperate to the fullest in as many programs as possible with these organizations.

I want to personally thank the many organizations and friends, both in this community and elsewhere in the country, who have supported our efforts in ways too numerous to recount on these pages. Also, I believe special thanks is in order here for The University of Louisville President, James R. Ramsey, whose commitment and resourcefulness are unwavering.

Donald M. Miller, M.D., Ph.D.
Director, Brown Cancer Center
