Options for Giving to Brown Cancer Center
Your support of the Brown Cancer Center confirms your hope for the future. Your gift will be used to find new treatments for cancer and create brighter tomorrows for cancer patients and their families.
While aiding a vital research endeavor, donors may realize substantial income and tax benefits, depending on the type of gift donated to the university. For most donors, there are three methods of giving:
Outright Gifts
Gifts of cash, long-term appreciated securities, real estate and tangible personal property are tax deductible at their full-market value. Gifts of highly appreciated property and securities offer especially attractive tax advantages to donors.
Pledges may extend over a period of five years and may be made in installments convenient to the donor.
Life Income Gifts
Donors may also support the James Graham Brown Cancer Center by establishing life income gifts that will provide use of funds in years to come. These gifts offer donors the satisfaction of making a gift to the cancer center while retaining the income from the assets for their lifetimes or the lifetimes of their loved ones. In addition, life income gifts also offer a tax advantage.
Bequests
The final distribution of assets often provides the best opportunity to fulfill a special interest in the Brown Cancer Center. Gifts through wills build the endowment and ensure that the donor’s intentions, contribution and name are preserved in perpetuity.
Matching Gifts
Gifts of $500,000 or more may qualify for matching monies from Kentucky's
Research Challenge Trust Fund. Commonly known as “Bucks for Brains,”
the program uses state funds to attract and match private donations,
effectively doubling the investment to support research in defined
areas key to the state. Find information on how you can double your
gift through the Bucks for Brains
program.
The James Graham Brown Cancer Center development staff welcomes the opportunity to help you plan your gift to accomplish your philanthropic goals.
